I called my Congresscritter's office just a few moments ago.
I asked the very nice man who answered the following question: "I have a publication deadline next week, and I want to you if you think it's a good idea for me to take the rest of the week off?"
The very nice young man was befuddled, so I repeated my question, thinking that he knew exactly where I was going.
LOL! He had no clue.
He replied in all seriousness, "Well, sir, if you have a deadline, I don't see why you would take the rest of the week off."
So then I pounced: "Then can you tell me why Congress is not in session when they have a major legislative deadline of March 1? The rest of America actually has to work for a living and for us to pay Congress to shirk their responsibilities like this is infuriating!"
His reply: "Um, yes, well, sir, you know, this is just one office, and, um, I mean, all of Congress...."
And these people are running the country...
